Epoxy Floor Coatings Kits

Epoxy floor coatings are sturdy and long lasting and hence a good idea for any surface. Epoxy floor coating may be used for garage floors, laundry room floors, basements, shop floors, restaurants, showrooms etc due to their durability and ability to resist oil, dirt, water, grease and other containments.

Epoxy garage floor coatings are good for protecting garage floors as epoxy coatings are stronger than granite and make a tougher garage floor. They are designed to channel liquids and debris out of the garage and are resistant to all household chemicals as well as mechanical shocks. They are also easy to clean and maintain. This makes them ideal for garage floors and since epoxy floor coatings may be made to satisfy users demands, they are all the more convenient.

Epoxy garage floor coating can be done by yourself or with the help of a professional. Nearly all kits come with an instructions DVD which tells you how to do the task step by step. Epoxy floor coating kits come with your choice of epoxy color, epoxy blend to clean and prepare the surface for coating, staining and sealing the surface and an epoxy coat primer and concrete sealer to be used after etching but before putting the epoxy coating. Gloves, a mixing bucket, squeegee and other materials to help may also be included. The gallons of color included vary from kit to kit, depending on for what floor size – 300 square feet, 600 square feet etc – the kit has been bought.

There are a lot of basecoat colors and decorative flakes to choose from which allows you to create a custom garage floor.

All epoxy floor coating kits do not come with a clear topcoat. However, it is recommended that if it is not included in the kit then you buy it separately as it improves the look and the life of the epoxy coating. It is very useful as it secures the color chips from coming loose from the epoxy and from the color of the epoxy from fading away due to the sunlight and other contaminants.

Epoxy kits are easily available. Doing a search online will yield many companies that are dedicated to producing epoxy floor coatings and are selling both their products and their services. Prices for the kits vary depending on the floor size that needs to be coated as well as the color chip flakes and whether it is commercial grade (100 percent solid epoxy), solvent based epoxy or water based epoxy. Water based epoxy kits are cheaper with the kit for a one car garage (around 250 square feet) available for about $60-$80. Commercial grade epoxy coating is thicker as it has higher solids count and is hence more durable. A kit for 250-300 square feet will cost around $250.
