Why doors warp and how can exterior doors should be treated to prevent them from warping. Do not save money by applying only one coat as it would not be enough and the door might warp eventually. If you are choosing the type of door that you want to use, consider using a ​fiberglass one instead of a wood door.

Plywood is popular for construction for many reasons: it's less likely to split when nailed or screwed at the edges due to it's cross-grain construction, and it's also lighter than solid wood, making it easier to maneuver and hang. It's also less likely to swell, contract or warp due to the balanced tension across 

Like the underside of a shriveling leaf, the plywood's concave side has lost moisture and shrunk. Reversing the warp can be accomplished by adding moisture to this concave side and drying the convex humped side. I use a sponge or sprayer to wet the concave side of the plywood (hot water works best).

If you've been around the building industry for the last twenty years or so, you've seen plywood being used less and Oriented Strand Board (OSB) being used more for sheathing on walls, roofs, and sub-floors. The most common failure is the appearance of a warp, bow, or buckle in the sheathing used for exterior walls.

Finishes can slow the drying of the wood, but they can't stop. All finishes allow moisture to pass through in vapor form. You experience the inadequacy of finishes (and paints) to fully encase the moisture in exterior wood doors that swell and stick in the summer and shrink and allow air through in the winter,
